The Parish Church of St John the Baptist holds a community archive for the Ermine Parish. This is includes a great number of photos, plans, cuttings and other documents on the history of the church and the Ermine Estate. The earliest items date from the mid 1950s, when the estate was being built, up to the present day. The eArchive contains copies of most items contained within the archive.
The Church is very grateful to those who have donated material to the archive and helped in its organisation and care, and have constructed and now maintain this website. The eArchive was produced with the help and support of the digitisation services of Bishop Grosseteste University College Lincoln.
This site is currently under development however you can look at our entire collection of the Ermine News from 1957 to 1965.
More content will be added to this site along with more features so please check back in early 2010.
The Parish Church archive is comprised of a series of files compiled, organised and maintained by church members, and some single depositions by individuals. The whole eArchive can be searched via a Google Custom Search Engine (CSE) below.
Currently only the Ermine News can be searched, however more content will be added soon.
Click here to go to browse the archive.
Use of the eArchive for education, research and leisure uses is encouraged. Where appropriate and possible the source of the eArchive should be acknowledged. Permission to use contents of the eArchive for commercial or profit-making purposes must be obtained from the Parish Church.
The archive has been used to support a history of the Ermine Estate by Dr Andrew Jackson of Bishop Grosseteste University College Lincoln. This forms a chapter in the volume in the Survey of Lincoln series: ‘Lincoln Uphill 1’.
